With this in mind, we have put together a guide on how to successfully introduce your new slow feed bowl as well as answering some frequently asked questions!
How to introduce your new bowl
Most dogs will take to their new puzzle feeder straight away and will happily start to interact with it and eat from it immediately – especially if you encourage them with a treat they like. However, for a small minority of dogs who are a little more nervous, here is our guide to introducing the bowl successfully.
Day One: Leave the bowl empty, in an area where the dog likes to spend a lot of time, so they get used to it being around and become familiar with it.
Day Two and Three: Place the puzzle feeder next to your dog’s usual feeding dish and carefully add a small portion of their food to the bowl. Use the outer areas first as they are easier to reach and pile the food high – again to make it initially easier to reach. You can then add the rest of their food to their usual feeding dish.
Day Four Onwards: Gradually increase the proportion of their food in the puzzle feeder as they get used to it, until you are satisfied, they will now use the bowl successfully. This process can take as little or as long as you both feel is right to achieve the desired result.
Should I use wet or dry food?
You can use either, depending on your pet’s preference.
We suggest if using dry food, to place the reduced amount in the bowl and then shake the bowl well, so the food disappears into all the nooks and crannies of the dish.
If using wet food, we tend to squash the reduced volume of food into the bowl, so again your pet has to work a bit longer and harder to get a smaller amount of food.
In our experience, this does make the pet feel fuller and more satisfied with a smaller amount of food. But as with all weight control systems or diets, you must feed reduced calories.
How do I clean my bowl?
Our bowl is dishwasher safe, on the top rack. However, we prefer to give ours a clean with warm soapy water and a stiff brush.
What are the health benefits of using a slow feed bowl?

My dog still won’t use the bowl, what should I do now?
Sometimes it can take a little time for our pets to get used to a new bowl or routine, so preserve for a few days. Our experienced team is always on hand to offer advice and support and arrange a refund if necessary.
